Calcium Nitrate may be used as a supplemental (side dressing) fertilizer application for Vegetables, Annual Flowers, Apples and other fruit crops. Apply one pound per 100 feet row (1 cup per 50 feet row or 1 level teaspoon per plant). Apply to root growing area. Do not place within 2 inches of stalk or crown of plants. Do not allow contact with wet foliage. A second application two weeks after the first is suggested. Calcium Nitrate may be used as a foliar spray for the addition of supplemental nitrogen and calcium. Apply as a full cover spray using 5 pounds per 100 gallons of spray. Applications within 1 week of harvest may adversly affect carrying quality of harvested produce. For Apples and Other Fruit Crops do a ground application broadcast under the tree. Use at rate of 1/2 pound for each year of tree growth to a maximum of 8 pounds per tree. Apply in February and October. Calcium Nitrate may be used as a foliar spray as an aid in the reduction of "bitter pit" and "cork spot" on apples. Apply with cover sprays every other week until 2 or 3 weeks before harvest using 3 pounds per 100 gallons of spray.
